Baltimore City Youth Data Hub
Community Research and Action Committee

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS and BACKGROUND

Applications due May 17

We’re so glad that you’re interested in the Community Research and Action Committee! Before you apply, we recommend
checking out this video or reading the information below to get a sense of the application process and who we are looking for!

Who?

Who would thrive as a Committee member?

We’re looking for 10 enthusiastic people aged 15 and over who have lots of ideas about how we can make Baltimore City a better, fairer place for everyone, and especially youth!

You can be a student, young adult, parent, resident, service provider, teacher, or anyone who lives, works, or attends school in Baltimore City.

The key? You are passionate about the city and have real-life stories you can share about your experiences here.

You do NOT have to have experience working with data. We’ll learn about data work together!

You DO need to commit to serving two years on the committee, which means attending at least one meeting per month, for two hours each.

What?

So what is the Community Research and Action Committee?

The Youth Data Hub has an Executive Committee to finalize decisions, but they want to make sure that the decisions they make reflect the actual needs and wishes of the community the Youth Data Hub is poised to help. That’s where you, our community members, come in.

In this PAID role, you would have the power to influence how we make, use, and share data about our youth to create a more equitable city for youth — simply by showing up to a monthly meeting as your authentic self, sharing your experiences in the city, and bringing your ideas to the table.

How?

Our application and selection process has two parts

Interest Statement and Application Form

Due May 17, 2024, use the button below to fill out our application form. After sharing vital info, like your name and email address, you will be asked to upload an interest statement describing your enthusiasm, skills and "superpowers" you can bring to the Youth Data Hub, and your interest or experience using data. You can write this statement or record it and upload it as a video. It should be no longer than 500 words or 4 minutes. Don’t be afraid to get creative, but please answer the following:

  1. Why are you interested in working on the Youth Data Hub?

  2. What talents, gifts, interests, and/or experience would you bring to conversations?

  3. How do you see the role of data in shaping outcomes for youth and for Black and Brown communities?

  4. Why is it important to you to improve quality of life outcomes for young people in Baltimore City?

Interview

After we review applications, we look forward to inviting individuals to interview in late May. During those interviews, we will want to hear your unique interests and skills related to improving our community, supporting young people, and why you think community input on data use and research is important.

Ready to apply?

Applications must be submitted no later than May 17
