What do you want people to know about Baltimore?

One thing I wish more people knew about Baltimore is how strong the sense of community is. Beneath the headlines, you’ll find people working tirelessly to uplift one another and create opportunities for everyone to thrive. The resilience and hope in this city inspire me every day.

Adan Padilla

Community Research and action committee

Adan Padilla (he/him), a passionate advocate for minority rights who values hard work and craftsmanship, brings personal experience to his work as a native of Honduras and the child of Honduran immigrants.

Previously, Adan was an industrial painter—”If you’ve ever driven past a bridge, overpass, or water tower covered in tarps with strange-looking machinery next to them, there’s a good chance industrial painters like me were sandblasting and painting the structure”—and union organizer, helping tradespeople facing issues from stolen wages to human trafficking. He now works for Liberty’s Promise, a nonprofit serving immigrant youth and their families.

Adan joined the Community Research and Action Committee to continue his commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of minority youth and families in Baltimore City and beyond by creating inclusive communities and advocating for minority rights.
