Born in Ghana and raised in Baltimore City, Audrey Awonlie Akumkperik (she/her) is passionate about giving back to her diverse community.
Audrey is a graduate of the Academy for College and Career Exploration (ACCE), a Building STEPS alumna, and a rising sophomore at Johns Hopkins University studying International Studies. Baltimore City Public Schools has been one of Audrey’s greatest concerns, as she believes that Baltimore youth deserve opportunities that address present disparities.
At ACCE, she once worked with Baltimore City Councilmember Odette Ramos to make a difference in school lunch meals. Audrey also participated in the first cohort of Baltimore’s Promise’s Youth Grantmakers initiative, which began in May 2022.
In her downtime, Audrey loves watching cartoons and Asian dramas, especially Chinese shows that allow her to indulge her love and curiosity about history, the Mughal Empire, the Tang Dynasty, diverse cultures, and food.
