What was your first job, and what did it teach you about yourself?

My first job was a cook at White Castle. This role taught me the importance of teamwork and strategic systems. It ensures consistent quality, workflow efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction! This is important in any workfield.

Throughout her journey, Nigeria has worked to make an impact within underserved, minority communities. She wants to continue to demonstrate the possibilities youth can have if granted the same opportunities she was given throughout her adolescence.

Today, she has the honor of serving as the Administrative Coordinator, Funding Innovation, at Baltimore’s Promise.

Nigeria Segure-Watson is a Brooklyn, NY, native who began her career in youth advocacy and education reform at the age of 14 years old.

Since then, she has worked with public sector initiatives that include The Future Project, GripTape Learning, Black Girls Film Camp, Living Classrooms Foundation, and Baltimore City’s Mayor’s Office of Employment Development – YouthWorks. Her efforts have been recognized by the multi-international fashion company, Coach Inc., serving as a panelist for their Dream It Real Foundation launch. Nigeria has been keynote speaker at the Donnell-Kay Foundation Hot Lunch and was featured in articles including in In Purposeful, BIF Speak, and PioneerLab. She has also recently completed her participation in Women Empowering Nations - Girls Leading The World (GLOW) Global Cohort Fellowship sponsored by Cantu Beauty. Today, she has the honor of serving as the Founder of The Girls Innovation Club, a creative exploration program teaching BIPOC girls about design thinking and project management to curate social solutions to solve community concerns that they are passionate about.

Nigeria resides in Baltimore, MD, and enjoys spending her time being a mom, family chef, and reading the latest novels.
