Imagine a city where every child has the opportunity to experience the magic of summer through exploration, learning, and fun.

Summer is a time when young people learn, explore, and grow—especially when they can participate in exciting, high-quality programs.

But not every child has the same ability to access these programs.

At Baltimore’s Promise, we believe every child, regardless of neighborhood and socio-economic status, deserves to experience the magic of summer through high-quality programming. That’s why we spend all-year-round planning and supporting summer programming, and learning what young people and community members want out of their summer programs.

Our goals?

  • To stop the notorious “summer slide,” and reduce disparities in academic performance.

  • To support working families, such as through free slots in Summer Funding Collaborative-supported programs, which ease the burden of summertime costs and worries.

  • To offer safe spaces and to curb violence for young people who may otherwise face instability outside of the structure of school.

  • To introduce new interests, from gardening and coding to workplace etiquette and midnight basketball, that help youth dream big about their futures.

  • To nurture creativity, problem-solving, confidence, and community; to set up children and youth with the resources and skills they need to thrive during their journey to adulthood.

Together, we can make sure that Baltimore kids will thrive in Summer ‘25! Join us in our effort to combat summer learning loss, and connect young people with the learning and recreational opportunities, job training, and resources that help pave the way to a healthy, fulfilling life.
